Strong soil resistant Whitman albums with blue textured leatherette cover are designed with thumb notches for easy window removal.The 1932 Washington Quarter was created to commemorate George Washington’s 200th birthday. In 1976 the Treasury launched a contest to select a new reverse for the Bicentennial Quarter. The winning design was by Jack L. Arh. Except for the dating “1776 1976” the obverse of the coins remained unchanged through their entire mintage. In 1977 the Washington quarters went back to their original reverse design. From 1932 1964 quarters were made of 90% silver and 10% copper each weighing 6.25 grams. From 1965 to Date quarters have a pure copper inner core and an outer layer made of 75% copper and 25% nickel each weighing 5.67 grams.
